Can You Breathe
Philippians 3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
A couple of years ago, I preached a sermon on fulfilling the purpose that God has for you. Feeling like I spoke everything God led me to speak, I closed the sermon feeling very satisfied... However, that feeling did not last for long.
A retired lady in the church approached me after the service and said she felt like she had already accomplished her purpose. She was "done" and had "done enough in ministry."
Having grandparents who still actively serve The Lord, I was shocked by her response. You see, I firmly believe that if you have BREATH, YOU HAVE PURPOSE.
In today's verses, Paul declared that he forgot the past and looked FORWARD to what was ahead. Forgetting the past does not just mean forgetting the difficult times. Often, people focus on their successes in life and feel like they have "arrived" or that their best days are behind them.
I challenge you to ALWAYS push for more and move FORWARD in life no matter your age or your physical condition or any other limitation that may try to hold you back. God has a plan and a purpose for YOU in every day and every season of your life.
Dear Lord, Help me to always recognize my purpose in You!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Have you allowed your current season of life or condition in life to limit you from God's purpose for you?
