This is Good!
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
One day, an African king and his childhood friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns. When the king fired it, his thumb was blown off. After examining the situation, the friend remarked, "This is good!" He had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) as "good."
However, the king replied, "No, this is not good!" and sent his friend to jail.
About a year later, while hunting, cannibals captured the king and took him to their village. They were about to take his life when they noticed that the king was missing a thumb. Since the cannibals never ate anyone who was less than whole, they released him.
Upon his return to his home, the king immediately went to the jail to to tell his friend what had happened.
"You were right," the king told his old friend. "It was good that my thumb was blown off. It was bad for me to send you to jail."
"No," his friend replied, "This is good! If I had not been in jail, I would have been with you."
I challenge you today to trust in the Lord that He is indeed working out even your seemingly bad situations for a greater purpose.
Dear Lord, Even when I don't understand why certain things are happening in my life, I put my trust in you that "This is good!"
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life that you need to declare, "This is good" and put your trust in Him?
