Philippians 3:13  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it but I focus on this one thing...

By this time of the month, most people have abandoned any New Year's resolutions, but could it be because they pursue TOO much change at once? They make unrealistic goals? They set themselves up for failure?

If you have found yourself in this place today or in the past, I have a new approach for you today. Do as Paul did in today's verse and narrow your focus.

He focused on ONE thing. Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. and his accomplishments. Here is a man who focused on ONE thing...who devoted his life to bringing equality for all. He said, "I have A Dream..." It was one dream that he committed his life to.

Too often, we are very divided in our time and devotion and ultimately our effectiveness.

I challenge you today, to find the weakest area in your life, and focus on making improvements in that area. Imagine an uneven slat bucket. You can choose to raise the higher sides, but it would not be able to retain any more water. However, when you work on lifting the lowest and weakest areas, the bucket will immediately benefit.

Likewise, when you improve in a weaker area in your life, you will gain the confidence to continue this cycle.

Dear Lord, show me the areas in my life that need the most improvement, and give me the strength through Your Spirit to improve in these areas.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: What AREA in your life could use change?
