 A Healthy Body NEEDS Peace

Proverbs 14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body....BUT envy rots the bones.

Interestingly, one in three Americans resolve at the beginning of each new year to better themselves in some way. However, the results of a university study on keeping New Year's resolutions indicate that approximately only 8% of these individuals are actually successful.

Today's scripture refers to a goal that we should ALL strive to achieve ... the goal of keeping our heart at peace. We are told that the benefit of peace in our lives is a healthier body. In fact, the verse proclaims that remaining at peace results in LIFE to the body.

Now, I am certain that I am not alone in constantly pursuing ways to get healthier. Only yesterday, I read that eating almonds will lower the bad cholesterol levels in our bodies. My reaction to this tidbit of information was to immediately make a mental note to incorporate more almonds in my diet!

My challenge to you today AND to me is to not limit our efforts to live healthier by concentrating on dietary needs alone. Instead, we should make every effort to follow God's advice for a healthier body ... to keep our heart at peace.

Dear Lord, I desire to live a life at peace. Help me to stand firm in the promise that You are with me at all times and WILL uphold me - no matter what I am going through!

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: What is one change you can make to produce more peace in your life?
