You Might Want to Pray...
John 14:13-14 "And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it."
I heard a story of a ship that was sinking in the middle of a storm, and the captain called out to the crew and said, "Does anyone here know how to pray?"
One man stepped forward and said, "Yes sir, I know how to pray."
The captain said, "Wonderful, you pray while the rest of us put on life jackets--we're one short."
While this story is quite comical, it illustrates a great truth. The captain and the majority of the crew were putting their faith in a life jacket...hoping that it would preserve them. However, that life jacket couldn't save them from sharks, dehydration, crashing waves and other conditions. I believe that the man of prayer was the most protected.
Thankfully, we live in a very technologically advanced culture with wonderful physicians and medical breakthroughs. However, even technology dims in comparison to what the power of God offers.
I challenge you to always seek Him to move in your situation in addition to any other medical treatment you receive in life. Never leave your circumstances solely in the hands of this world when you can approach the God of this universe with your needs. He is the greatest physician of all.
Dear Lord, I thank You that I can have confidence to bring my needs to You. Through You, all things are possible.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Have you currently placed all of your situations in the hands of your loving God?
