Heartfelt Goals
1 Corinthians 9:26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
I am sure I am not alone. I am sure I am not the only one. I am sure others........have broken their New Year's resolutions BEFORE the end of the first week of January lol. Hopefully, I am also not alone in getting right back on track!
In today's scripture, Paul describes the importance of living our lives in such a way as to run toward the goal ... to hear Jesus tell us "Well Done" at the end of our race. According to Author Rick Warren, resolutions or goals should be HEARTFELT ... ones that we are passionate about. He cautioned that we will never accomplish them without a deep desire to do so.
As I read these words, I began to reflect on my resolution as well as the resolutions set by most individuals. According to statistics, most resolutions are broken before the end of January. My challenge to you today if you are struggling with your current resolution is to select a new one that is based on what's important and matters to you ... one that is attainable ... one that is HEARTFELT!
Dear Lord, Help me to remain motivated to achieve my goal. Let me see the value of what it would mean for me to be successful just as Paul realized the full impact of the eternal prize that awaited him at the end of his race.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: How will achieving your goal benefit you?
