A Generous and Gracious God

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all. How will He not also graciously give us all things?

Years ago, my husband and I were discussing what we would do if we would ever have the opportunity to acquire lots of money. I told him that I would not be greedy - I just wanted enough to pay off our bills and to help out my family and close friends with their debts. Craig, on the other hand, said that he wanted millions! I remember telling him that I would never want to be that greedy. I would only ask God for what I needed to accomplish my mission to help my family and friends.

I will always remember his response. He said that he was NOT being greedy. He explained that he would ask for millions in order to help as MANY individuals as possible BECAUSE we have a BIG God. He added that I was actually being selfish by settling for my little when God could provide so much more to help me as well as many others through me!

As I listened to Craig's reasoning, I realized that I wasn't being polite by asking for just a little ... I was actually limiting God's ability and willingness to do great and powerful things in my life and the lives of others through my low expectations. Today's scripture assures us that He wants to GRACIOUSLY give us ALL things ... not a few things!

God IS willing and always available to bestow His grace upon us to help us get through whatever difficulties we face in life. He is with us just as He was with Mary and Joseph long ago when they made the extraordinary decision to accept His calling for their lives. They understood that God's grace would sustain them AND that they did not have to worry about asking for just enough grace to get them through their situation. Rather, they wholeheartedly believed that God would give them ALL they needed to fulfill His plans for their lives.

My challenge to you and to me today is to always hold on to God's promise to provide the measure of His grace needed to help us get through our struggles. I encourage you to never limit God .... know that He has enough grace to solve ALL of our problems, to tenderly wipe away every tear that we shed, and to answer every question that we ask.

Dear Lord, I am so grateful for Your generosity. You are always there to provide the grace that I need to get through the circumstances that I am facing.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
