Fully Rely OGod

Proverbs 3:5   Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Yesterday's devotion spoke of how important it is for us to make every attempt to become more and more like Jesus. Our focus scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:17, revealed how we ARE a new creation when we accept Christ in our lives. However, our decision to become more and more like Jesus is not an automatic process.

In order to transform ourselves into this new creation, we must learn to trust God and not lean on our own understanding as today's scripture states. We must FULLY RELY ON GOD. Now, to fully rely on anyone is something that is not promoted in today's society. Instead, the importance of self-sufficiency and independence is stressed from an early age. To fully rely on God takes faith and confidence that He has our best interests at heart.

According to Webster's dictionary, the definition of fully is completely or entirely, and the definition for rely is to have confidence based on experience. For individuals who have not completely let go of their past, it would be difficult to ENTIRELY trust God. These individuals may have reservations about their confidence in God due to their limited experiences with His mighty power.

On the other hand, this would not be a leap of faith for individuals who have fully relied on God in the past. These individuals would be able to draw comfort from their confidence in knowing that He can truly be relied upon ... that He will work things out for our good according to His plan for our lives.

My challenge to you today is to delve into God's Word when your situation seems too big even for God. Read about the plans that He had for the faith heroes of the past and how these plans came to fruition. Read to understand how He remained faithful to those individuals who willingly submitted their lives to Him no matter the costs.

Read about how He loved all of us so much that He gave up His one and only Son to die for us. By doing so, you will experience the amazing result of having Psalm 62:1-2 come alive in your heart - "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken." You WILL BE equipped to Fully Rely On God in any situation that comes your way....realizing NOTHING is too big for Him!

Dear Lord, I am so grateful to have an amazing God that I can put my complete trust in. Help me to get to know You more and more everyday in order to anticipate with full reliance Your mighty ability to get me through all that I encounter in life.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
