 "A Measure of Faith Series"

Day 3: We ARE His Hands and Feet

Matthew 25:40 Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.

I once read a story about a small church that sustained much damage during a war. When assessing the damage, it was sadly discovered that the hands and feet were broken off of the outdoor statue of Jesus. When a renowned sculptor learned of this situation, he offered to repair the statue to it's original state.

Although the offer was truly appreciated, the congregation decided to keep the statue as it was. Instead of repairing it, they determined that the statue could serve as an important reminder for all who saw it. A small plaque with a HUGE message was displayed next to the statue of Jesus. It read: "We are to be His hands and feet".

This account definitely carries a strong message for each and every one of us. It provides an opportunity to truly contemplate on what we are doing for Jesus. As today's scripture states, what we do for others is actually done unto Him.

Mother Theresa, the founder of the Missionaries of Charity organization which is now active in 133 countries, fully devoted her life to Jesus. She willingly functioned as His hands and feet in service to the poor ... the rejected ... the abandoned.

We may not all be able to impact individuals in 133 countries, BUT we CAN touch those who we encounter on a daily basis.

How are you sharing Jesus' love with those around you? Have you taken the time to reach out to them ... to discover ways that you could be of service to them? Are you being God's feet and going to them? His hands in helping them?

My challenge to you today is to make a true effort to really get to know your neighbors ... to provide an ear to listen to their concerns, a smile to lift their spirits, a hug to comfort them in their times of distress, a hand to help them up when they fall, a jacket to warm them when they are cold, a meal to satisfy their hunger. Give them the opportunity to get acquainted with Jesus through you!

Dear Lord, Thank You for the hands and feet You have given me. Help me to always use them to demonstrate my love for You and for my neighbors. Equip me to follow Your example of servitude!

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
