Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of The Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
Today, we continue our series on peace and examine the next crucial step in obtaining peace: Thank Him for all He has done.
Philippians 4:6-7 commands, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. THEN you will experience God's peace..."
To synopsize today's passage, we are triumphant over the devil through Christ dying for us and through the sharing of what God has done for us. The very breath in your lungs at this moment is a gift from Him. And when we look at everything we have to be thankful for... it builds our faith.
When David was facing Goliath, he was a teenage boy that was facing a man that scholars say stood at least 9'6" tall. In 1 Samuel 17:34-37, David was told that he could not fight Goliath because he was too young. Instead of accepting those limiting words, David reminisced on how God had helped him to kill both a lion and a bear when he was tending his father's sheep. He focused on what God HAD previously done for him and WAS triumphant through the word of his testimony.
What is your testimony? How has God provided for you? Protected you? Healed you? Delivered you? Sheltered you? Comforted you?
By following the three steps highlighted over the last few days...DON'T WORRY, PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING, AND THANK HIM FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE... God will pour out His gift of peace. Philippians says it is a peace that will guard your heart and mind. To me that means it is a tool that works for you. Would you be upset if someone gave you a vacuum that cleans your house while you sleep? I wouldn't complain about a tool that works while I sleep. That's what God's peace is - a tool that continually guards your emotions and your thoughts.
My challenge for you today is to write down five things God has done for you. And then read your list aloud every morning over the next week. If He helped you in one area, couldn't He help you in another?
Dear Lord, please help me to find the peace that You have promised ME. Holy Spirit, I pray that you bring to my remembrance times that You have been there for me and have helped me to walk in Your grace and love.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that you are Lord and God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
