SUPERSIZED
Zephaniah 3:17 For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a MIGHTY savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
I was having lunch with a friend of mine yesterday, and his elementary school band teacher approached our table. It took him a little while to figure out her identity as so many years had gone by. After the surprise reunion, he chuckled about how short the teacher actually was....after all, he was a child, sitting in a chair looking up at her when he was in her class.
I was then reminded of how amazed I was to see how small in size my elementary school actually is when I returned there as an adult. As I stood in the school courtyard, I felt like King Kong or as if I was standing in the middle of an architectural model of my former school.
However, when I was a child, the walls seemed to go to the sky, the playground appeared as large as a football field, and the teachers looked like giants.
Now, the same desk that I once sat comfortably in would require a fire department to set me free! The students called me "ma'am" and "miss", and no one even asked me to play dodgeball during my visit - lol.
Naturally, as we grow physically, the things that once seemed SO BIG are surprisingly much smaller than we imagined.
This concept also applies to our spirituality. As we grow in our relationship with God and in our knowledge of The Word, situations that once seemed so significant become much smaller...in our sight.
What's funny is that my little school never changed besides the paint colors or some minor cosmetic enhancements...but I changed...I grew...I advanced.
Do you find yourself in a situation this morning that seems hopeless, frustrating, or as if the walls surrounding you go to the sky with no way out? If so, I challenge you to eat your spiritual "Wheaties" and grow beyond the walls of your circumstances. Even if the people in your life don't change and the situation doesn't change immediately, YOU can.
Look at your situation through the eyes of God Whom NOTHING is too big to overcome. Fuel your growth with His promises and with time in prayer with Him. Then, you'll stand in the midst of your situation feeling like a mighty conqueror.
Dear Lord, I thank You that You are bigger than my situation and that You can cause me to grow in my trials and become victorious in YOU!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
