Double for Your Trouble

Job 42:10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Last week, a friend received word from a testing service that a mistake on THEIR part has revealed that she passed a test that she had SUPPOSEDLY failed over a year ago. In addition to apologizing for their error, the testing service has mailed a check to cover the first test as well as the second one she was required to take. Now, I must add that successful completion of this test was a stipulation of her continued employment in a job she loved.

Since she had missed a passing score on the first test by only ONE test question, her employer in good faith granted additional time to allow her to take the test over.

When she received the results of the first test indicating that she had failed it by only one test question, her faith was not shaken at all. Instead, she prayed for God's help on the second test and asked others to pray as well. I was one of the individuals who agreed with her in prayer. Thankfully, she did pass the second test.

I believe God honored her strong faith and dependence on Him by blessing her double-fold as He did for Lot in today's scripture. I am certain that the discovery of the grading error by the testing service and the decision to reimburse her for both tests was a direct result of all of the prayer that went forth.

In Zechariah 9:12, God proclaims "I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles." Please realize that God is going to work out for your good WHATEVER you are facing. All you have to do is bring your situation to His attention and ASK for His help....BELIEVING that He is more than capable to do so.

My challenge to you today is to realize that His way of working things out may not be in your timelines or according to how you envision things to be. However, always know that He DOES have a good plan for your life ... a plan to provide both hope and a future. Psalm 75:2 offers us the following assurance from the One who has your best interest at heart "At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity."

Dear Lord, I ask that You help me to trust You in those times that I question Your timing and Your methods. Allow me to use this time of waiting upon You to increase my faith and bring about change and growth in my life.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
