The Last Place You Look

Romans 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

As a young, working parent, I have to keep up with a lot of THINGS! Little shoes, socks, toys, school materials, and then all of MY work and personal items! I am constantly straightening out and organizing our home and vehicles...yet the same mess appears again and again.

Inevitably, things get lost in our home, and it really doesn't matter until we need THAT particular thing. Just this week, I tore the house apart looking for my son's shoes...which were - of course - hidden under a pile of dirty laundry.

When searching for something lost, I'm sure you have received the advice that I have often received.... "It will be in the last place you look."

Well...OF COURSE it will be the last place I look because after I find it, I'm not looking anymore! I've always found that statement comical for that very reason.

However, I am going to extend that same advice to anyone searching for God today. Maybe you need an answer. Maybe you need confirmation from Him. Maybe you just need to be reminded of His love. Know that, HE IS usually in the last place you look.

So often, in our tough times, we first seek advice from a friend...OR we search for comfort in the things that the world has to offer to mask the pain. But when the friend leaves or the thing we sought comfort in no longer works.... the pain...the questions...the void still remains.

THEN, the search for God begins.

My challenge for you today is to always look for Him FIRST in every situation you encounter --- good or bad. Matthew 6:33 says, "Seek the Kingdom of Godabove all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need." Let Him be the FIRST and LAST place you look!

No matter what obstacles you are facing today or tomorrow, the answers to your problems always lie in Him. God is all around you! Today's verse proclaims that as long as you have seen the earth and sky, you have seen God...His "eternal power and divine nature" are all around you. Take time to bask in His presence and listen to His voice.

Dear Lord, I thank You that Your presence surrounds me. Help me to silence all of the distractions around me so that I may hear Your Voice clearly.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
