All Things Are Possible
Matthew 19:26. Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
I recently watched a movie entitled "Anything is Possible." The star of the movie, Ethan Bortnick, is a 12 year-old child prodigy pianist who is deemed to be the youngest philanthropist ever. It has been reported that Ethan has helped raise more than $30 million for nonprofits around the world.
As I reflected on what this young boy has done with his life thus far, I was reminded of the accomplishments of the MOST amazing 12 year-old boy to walk this earth - Jesus Christ. Luke 2:46-47 describes what Jesus was doing when His parents found Him after unknowingly leaving Him behind in Jerusalem, "After three days they found Him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard Him was amazed at His understanding and His answers."
Today's verse offers the encouragement that with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. As unbelievable as it is to comprehend that one twelve year-old could raise $30 million for charities and another could WOW the most renowned Bible scholars of the day, I want you to realize that whatever you are praying for IS POSSIBLE through the One who can do ALL things!
BUT what if the impossible situation that you are facing in your life right now just seems to be TOO impossible for even God to resolve?
The bible records a story of a father of an afflicted boy who found himself in this dark place. When he brought his young son to Jesus, this father WANTED to believe that Jesus could heal his son...he WANTED to trust the One who had healed so many others. Jesus understood the depth of this man's despair. He felt this father's overwhelming pain when the father uttered the words that many individuals experiencing doubt have secretly spoken - "Help my unbelief." (Mark 9:24)
My challenge to you today is to bring your pain, confusion, concern, worry, hopelessness ... AND your unbelief to Jesus right now! Don't limit God based on your age, situation, or any other defining factor. Know that you serve a capable God. In fact, He assures us of WHO HE REALLY IS in Jeremiah 32:27 "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?"
Dear Lord, Romans 8:28 promises us that "All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Lord, I ask You always to help me operate in my BELIEF that through You, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
