Exhausted --- Go to Him
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Having my daughter, her husband, and two young daughters live with us has truly opened my eyes to the "busyness" of raising children and pursuing careers. From the moment my daughter and her husband's alarm clock goes off in the early morning hours, their day takes off ... getting dressed, waking up the girls, preparing breakfast, dressing the girls, helping them brush their teeth, gathering schoolbags, and finally buckling their precious cargo in their carseats for the ride to school. Now, in the midst of all of those things, they are also tending to laundry, loading the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, making beds, and putting the finishing touches on their own attire in order to be on the road for 6:50 a.m.
I am convinced that they (as well as millions of other couples in similar circumstances) are absolutely exhausted by the time their morning routine is complete. They are probably ready for a little break as they head off to their other work - the jobs that they get paid to do!
Sustaining such fast-paced lives is taxing and can place much strain on individuals and their families. Today's verse tells us to go to God when we are weary and that He will provide rest.
Some may wonder, "How can I find the time to go to God when there is never enough time to do all of what I have to do?" The answer to that question can be found in Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." He is assuring us in His Word that if we make spending time with Him priority --- He will multiply our time to be able to get ALL of our THINGS done!
My challenge to you today is to purposefully allocate time for God in your busy schedule. The God who was able to multiply 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed 5000 is still capable of performing great and mighty works. Just give Him an opportunity to do so in your life....
Dear Lord, Psalm 107:29 tells me that You "stilled the storm and calmed the waves." As I commit to spend time with You each and every day, I pray that You will bring calmness into my life. I also ask that You multiply my time to get everything done with less anxiety and stress so that others might sense Your peace in me.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
