You are Not Alone
1 Timothy 2:4 He wants everyone to be saved. He wants them to come to know the truth.
Have you ever considered praying for someone and then either dismissed the thought or grew weary from doing so because the person's situation seemed to be an impossible one? I believe that we have all been in this place. We want to pray, but we wonder if OUR prayers are powerful enough. We may actually question whether God would EVEN want us to bring this prayer request to His attention.
Today's verse assures us that God not only desires for us to bring these individuals to His attention ---- He wants them to be saved! Although we may imagine the situation to be beyond hope, Matthew 19:26 assures us of the following "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible."
In praying for the salvation of a loved one, it is important to realize that NO ONE wants them saved and healed more than God does. He is the PERFECT father described throughout the Word.
Regardless of the situation, the Bible provides a great example of what we NEED to do in Luke 23:34. While hanging on the cross after all He endured, Jesus PRAYED "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing."
Imagine Jesus uttering these words concerning those who had tortured Him - who had betrayed Him - who had abandoned Him. He understood that these individuals did not know the truth - did not understand God's plans for their lives. He realized that His Father, our Almighty God, desired to have these individuals' eyes opened to His saving grace.
After Jesus was crucified, Acts 1:14 tells us that the Apostles "met together and were constantly united in prayer". These mighty men of faith could have thrown in the towel and walked away from all that they believed. Jesus had been crucified and their fellow apostle had taken his own life after betraying Jesus. I believe that the word TOGETHER in this verse is the key to what we should do in impossible situations.
Matthew 18:20 promises that "where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." My challenge to you today is to partner with someone who will agree to pray with you for that seemingly impossible situation. Together, you will both be blessed and strengthened.
Dear Lord, I pray that You always help me to see others with Your eyes and with the knowledge that You want EVERYONE to come to know You. I ask that You lead me to an effectual prayer partner at those times when the situation before me seems impossible.
I also thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
