God IS Moving
1 Corinthians 2:9 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.
My son loves hiding under the blankets in our bed. He calls out to us, and we pretend that we can't find him. Sometimes, we even joke that we're tired and that we're going to lie down (on him). That's when he starts wiggling. You can't see him, but you sure can hear the giggles and see the movement under the blankets.
The best part is pulling those blankets off of the bed and seeing him laugh so hard that his little fair face turns bright red and his bold cackle fills the room.
This simple game with my son reminds me of how faith works. There are many times that we can't physically see God, but if we listen and look close enough, we can hear His voice and see Him move. So often, we consider the absence of physically seeing with the absence of God's presence and manifestation in our lives.
Almost immediately after finding out that I was pregnant for my son, the following thought entered my mind, "What if I have a miscarriage?" I told my husband that I was concerned this could happen. It took so long for us to get pregnant that it still didn't seem real...it didn't seem possible. He assured me that he had peace that our baby would grow full-term (and he did).
When you know what God has promised but have not actually SEEN it yet, it is easy to allow yourself to question...is this even possible? Sure, I felt my son move. I knew I was pregnant, but that due date seemed SO long away.
Today's verse is a wonderful promise for those who love the Lord. We are reminded that we CANNOT even fathom what the Lord has in store for us. It is not something that could be grasped by sight, sound or logic.
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that "faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Although we may not physically see God, I challenge you to look for Him in your life. He is always moving and always speaking. Identify areas in your life that He has moved mightily, and be encouraged that He has NOT stopped there. He always finishes His mighty work in our lives.
Dear Lord, Thank You for everything that You have done and continue to do in my life. I KNOW that through YOU, all things are possible.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. |
