Maximizing Every Moment
Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
I'm at a strange place in my life as a dad. My almost three-year-old son has a social agenda and network like that of a young teenager. This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get invited to go see Turbo with him and part of his crew (my parents and sister were bringing him home from a fun night together). After getting over the initial offense of my son saying when I walked in, "I don't want dad here," and then telling me to go back to work, I somehow began to enjoy the movie. This children's movie was confirmation that the Lord can speak to us through ANYTHING if we are searching.
The premise of the movie is that a snail - who always dreams of becoming a race car - becomes turbo charged. He is now the fastest snail in the world...traveling with speeds in excess of 200 mph. The problem is that his brother Chet is an EXTREME pessimist.
Chet looks at his brother at a crucial point in the movie and asks, "What are you going to do if you wake up tomorrow and your powers are gone?" Turbo quickly exclaimed, "Then, I'll have to make the most of TODAY."
Today's verse is a reminder that we are not guaranteed anything. Upon first glance, that may not seem overly uplifting, but hear me out. Knowing that no one is promised tomorrow should inspire us all to seize TODAY. God has great promises for your life. Throughout the Bible, there are scriptures that speak to us of His unfailing love and His plans that He desires to give us an abundant life!
However, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. The fact is that sometimes life may throw a curveball that you never saw coming.
Today, I challenge you to make the most of EVERY moment you have! Let your family know that you not only love them but that you are passionate about them! Give everything you can on the job and in your community. Most of all, chase after God with EVERYTHING inside of you.
I believe that each moment is an opportunity to set you up for the next. Therefore, when you capitalize on each moment of the day, you can more easily run the race that God has destined for you.
Dear Lord, Thank You for the great plans that You have destined for me. Lead me and direct me each day so that I may maximize each moment that You have blessed me to live out.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
