You've Only JUST Begun

Jeremiah 1:5   "...... Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work."

80th Birthday

As I gaze upon my three grandchildren, I sometimes wonder what they will do with their lives. Our five year old Sophia has recently been expressing a desire to be an Occupational Therapist like her mom. Annabelle, our three-year granddaughter, only wants to be a princess. We are not sure about our little Maddox, but I am convinced that he will become a fourth generation minister.

Although I may have thoughts about what they will do, today's scripture reminds me that God has their future - our future - in His hands. Have you ever wondered about the special work that God has set apart for you to perform? Do you ever wonder if this verse even applies to you?

Well, I believe that Moses must have struggled with those questions.   Exodus 7:7 tells us that Moses was eighty years old, and his brother, Aaron, was eighty-three when they were given their assignment to perform the great plan God had set apart for them to do. Can you imagine that at the age of 80 years old Moses discovered that God had something very special in store for him?

In October, my mother celebrated her 80th birthday. When I reflect on Moses and all he accomplished for God beginning at the age of 80, I wonder what else God has in store for my mom. She has been a truly awesome wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, etc, BUT it is exciting to think that a new chapter of her life could be right around the corner.

We have a great example to follow in Moses' life. Exodus 7:7 reveals Moses age when he learned of his special work, AND Exodus 7:6 states that "Moses and Aaron DID just as the Lord commanded them." The important point to be gleaned from these two scriptures is that Moses said YES to God.

My challenge to you no matter where you are in life - no matter what you are going through - is to say YES to God when He speaks to you. Remember.....before you were born, He set you apart for a special work. He promises us in Jeremiah 29:11 that He wants to prosper us and to give us hope and a future.

Dear Lord, I trust that the plans that You have for my life are good ones. I desire to follow Moses' example. I ALWAYS want to be a vessel used to spread Your message to all that I encounter.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
