Choose to Believe
John 6:47 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life."
I can remember listening to students share their versions of what happened in a particular situation when I was an elementary school administrator. At times, it was very difficult to determine which version was the most accurate. The students were often so convincing, and their versions seemed plausible.
Saturday night, my husband and I watched the movie, "The Life of Pi." At the very end of the movie, the viewer is presented with two options as to what really occurred in the movie. Just as I had to determine which version of my students' accounts was the correct one, the viewer of "The Life of Pi" is forced to make a decision.
Sadly, many individuals are faced with the same dilemma in life in regards to their faith and walk with Christ. These individuals want to believe in all that Jesus did for us, but there are so many other "things" tugging at their hearts and minds
It could be nagging questions about the legitimacy of the Word. It could be relationships pulling them in other directions. It could be habits that are keeping them bound to their old ways. OR it could simply be the "busyness" of life consuming their every waking moment. As my Pastor recently said in a sermon, these individuals are drifting along - going with the flow.
Today's scripture provides a way for us to stop drifting and to make a decision. We are told that we can have eternal life IF we BELIEVE. We are given a choice --- This choice is to either believe in Him and reap the rewards of eternal life OR to suffer the consequences of our actions. I have often heard that everyone will spend eternity somewhere ..... the only question is where!
My challenge to you today is to make the commitment to serve God in every aspect of your life. Ask Him to help You break the shackles of anything that is holding you back from FULLY serving Him.
Dear Lord, You tell me in Hebrews 2:1 that I must listen very carefully to the truth I have heard or that I may drift away from it. I ask you today to open my eyes, ears, heart, and my mind to see, hear, feel, and understand all that You have purposed for my life. Your Word says that You have great and wonderful plans for me AND that is what I desire.....that is what I choose to BELIEVE!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
