Fruit

Day 4: Fruit of the Spirit Series

Even Babies Cry Out for PEACE

John 16:33 "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

Peace

I can recall a night approximately 9 months ago having a difficult time putting my baby (just shy of 2-years-old) back to sleep in the middle of the night.

Brokenhearted, he began to say "song, song" as if he wanted us to sing a song to him. My husband, Brandon, began to sing, but that wasn't enough. Our son, Maddox, now cried for "peez, peez." Brandon thought he was saying "Please, Please." So, he continued to sing. Maddox continued to say "peez, peez."

Brandon then realized Maddox wanted him to sing a song called "Wonderful Peace" that Brandon often sings to him. These are the lyrics of the four lines my husband sings:

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,

Coming down from the Father above!

Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray

In fathomless billows of love!

I can remember watching Brandon rock our new baby while singing this song to him in the hospital the first night he was born. We never dreamed of what would come the next day. The morning after Maddox was born I called the nurses to bring my baby to me. Instead, they sent the medical staff.

My son's lungs began to collapse, and unbeknownst to us, they had to perform an emergency surgery to enable him to breathe. We were then informed that our son may have to be airlifted to another hospital and that his chances of survival would depend upon HIS ability to fight.

How could a baby-literally born yesterday-have the will to fight for his life???

Thankfully, Maddox made it through that situation and is a healthy toddler today, but what got us through those days was the foundation of peace that I believe my husband laid in our son's life and in that hospital room on the night he was born.

The fact that our baby cries at night for "Peace" tells me something-if BABIES cry out for peace, how much more do we need God's peace in our lives?

My challenge for you today is to build a foundation of peace in your life and to ALWAYS surround yourself with people of peace-people who will encourage you and believe in God to perform the miraculous.

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your supernatural peace. I thank You that according to today's scripture, You have overcome the world and in You, I CAN have peace.

I also thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Fruit of the SpiritGalations 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, PEACE, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
