Pregnant with a Promise
2 Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him."
On the anxiously awaited day of our first 4D ultrasound, no one could get our baby boy to move--not even the highly trained technician. Since we were all extremely disappointed, I was scheduled for another complimentary session.
Had there been 4d ultrasounds 2000 years ago, Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, would have had better results than I did. There was one thing that got her baby moving--It was the voice of the Virgin Mary. Luke 1:41 says that when Mary approached Elizabeth, "the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."
What was so special about Mary that she could cause a baby to leap? That God would birth His son through her?
Today's verse explains that God is looking throughout the earth for those whose hearts are "loyal to Him." Mary was neither rich nor highly educated. She was just a young girl--described in Luke 1:28 as "highly favored"--who loved God and was loyal to Him.
The Bible says in Matthew 1:20 that what was conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit.
When you submit your life to Christ, He desires to "conceive" something in you through the "Holy Spirit" as well. Although you are not physically carrying Jesus, you are carrying His presence through the Holy Spirit living inside of you (1 Corinthians 3:16).
God has given all of us dreams that can be used to "birth" forth His presence in this world. He desires for you to be pregnant with His promises.
During my pregnancy, I was determined to protect my baby by being mindful of the things I consumed and the activities that I participated in.
I challenge you today, as a carrier of the presence of God, to guard your thoughts, words and actions. Nurture that promise inside of you. At the right time, God will bring forth His plan for your life. He is never late or premature.
You also have the ability to cause someone else's baby (dream) to leap like Mary did for Elizabeth. When you help spring forth the dreams of others, God will bless you tremendously!
Dear Lord, Forgive me for times that I did not protect Your promises or bring Honor to You. Help me to birth forth everything that You have for me.
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
