Oh Jiminy Crickets!

Psalm 19:14

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Jiminy Crickets
Our 2-year-old son has picked up the saying, "Oh, my gosh!" Not only does he say this, but he says it exactly right. If he drops something, he puts his little hand on his forehead and says the phrase holding out "gosh" for a few seconds.

We really do not want him saying this. So, we have tried to replace the phrase with new ones like "Oh Jiminy Crickets" or "Oh Peter Pan." Sounds like a great solution, right? You would think so, but now when he drops something, he says, "Oh Jiminy Cricks, Oh Peter Pan, Oh my goshhhhhhhhhhhhhh" all together at once!

Where do you go from there lol?

Because we love him, we want to help him in every area of his life--even his speech. We want the things that he says to always be considerate of others, a great representation of him and well...a great representation of us.

As God's children, He feels the same way about us. In today's verse, the Psalmist David prayed that his words would be pleasing to the Lord.

How do the words you speak represent God and your faith in His ability and faithfulness? You see, if we truly believed everything in the Bible and if we truly believed in how powerful our God is, our speech would be different.

The way we speak to others and the way we respond to life's circumstances would change as well.

Luke 6:45 says, "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil STORED up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is FULL of." The words we speak are a representation of what we dwell on and what we allow to enter our hearts.

I challenge you today to STORE up God's Word in your heart and get FULL of His presence in your life. By doing so, in accordance with Romans 12:2, you will be "transformed by the renewing of your mind." Then and only then, will your speech be pleasing to the Lord.

Dear Lord, Forgive me for the times that I spoke negatively and doubted Your abilities. Fill my life with Your Spirit that I would always speak words of healing, hope and love out of the abundance of my heart.

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
