Crowded Bed
Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will REST in the shadow of the Almighty.
My little boy has not been feeling very well and has ended up in OUR bed at some point every night this week.
Although I LOVE holding him, I must say, I sleep much better without a little foot in my face. I am also more energized to care for him and to work the next day after a good night of uninterrupted sleep!
Now, not only does he want to be in our bed, but he wants to bring his cup, Mickey Mouse, his blanket and whatever else he can find... Our queen-sized bed gets EXTREMELY crowded VERY quickly.
We have committed to helping him get back in his bed next week. I know this will be a challenge, but I'll be sure to give him lots of love, hugs and kisses the next morning!
My question to you today is... How crowded is your bed?
You see, God intended for us to get rest. Even God rested on the seventh day of creation.
However, we often allow many things to crowd our "beds" and to rob us of our rest. Things like fear, compromise, anger, stress, a list of to-dos a mile long... Or we allow too much of a good thing to become a distraction and deterrent to our rest.
THEN (like my little boy) those things in your life will try to bring along their friends making your bed even more crowded! For example, when you allow fear into your bed, that fear will invite anxiety and doubt to snuggle up as well.
Eventually, there could be so many "things" between you and God that you will miss out on both your rest AND His presence in your life!
I challenge you today to replace whatever it is between you and God that has robbed you of your rest with faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 5:7 states, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for YOU." He desires for you to get the rest you need to rejuvenate your body, soul, mind and spirit.
Dear Lord, I thank You for Your offer in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Forgive me for allowing so many things to come between us, and help me to find rest in You.
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen. |
