Turbo Charged

Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatever you do, do well."

 Turbo Charged

Everyone knows that one day they will "become" their parents, but that first implication can be somewhat of a shocker!

Here' s my realization... I was newly married and walked into our bathroom to find a new roll of toilet paper sitting on top of an empty roll. My response was all too familiar! I brought the new roll, the empty roll and the holder to my husband and said (in a sweet, new bride tone), "Um baby, when we are out of toilet paper, we really need to put the new roll on the holder and throw the old one away."

My husband looked at me baffled and responded, "I know. I always do." As I stood there with the evidence in my hand, I remembered that I WAS THE ONE who left that roll there!!! Then, I realized, the only other person in the world who would have "brought out the evidence" would have been MY dad. With wide eyes and toilet paper in hand, I immediately thought, "I am turning into my father!" (The only difference is that he would NOT have left an empty roll on the holder.)

Please know that my dad is a wonderful and generous man who loves God and people with everything in him. He is also VERY particular.

We often joke that there are THREE ways to do everything: the right way, the wrong way and the "Craig Hitt" way. My dad (dubbed by my brother as "turbo-charged") is always on a mission and in everything he does--he does it with EXCELLENCE. Shouldn't we all though?

Psalm 8:1 says, "O Lord, our Lord, How EXCELLENT is Your name..." The very name of God is "excellent," and God expects that same excellence in us as well.

A wonderful example of this is found in the success of Daniel in Daniel 6:3, "Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an EXCELLENT SPIRIT was in him..."

I challenge you today to strive for excellence in ALL you do. When you approach your job, your family, and even your everyday seemingly mundane tasks with excellence--promotion and success will follow just as it did for Daniel. The best way to achieve this is to become more like God, your "Father" each day.

Dear Lord, Forgive me for times that I did not take pride in my work and the things that You have called me to do. Help me to represent You well by always operating in a Spirit of Excellence.

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
