Spared for a Purpose
Exodus 9:16 But I have spared you for a purpose-to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth.
Next month, I will be turning 30, and I have been reflecting on what I have done with my life over the last three decades. I have very few regrets. Even in my mistakes, I have still seen the hand of God move mightily. I do however certainly want to do more for the Kingdom of God in this next season of my life. After all, sharing His love is first and foremost what we are all called to do, AND if it had not been for God's provision, I would NOT physically be here today.
While pregnant with me, my mom was told by her doctor that I should be aborted. The doctor was concerned that I would be born with severe mental and physical disabilities and that I would likely even be missing limbs.
At the time, my family was living in Singapore where my dad worked. Being across the world from family, already having had the number of children they had planned for, and hearing of the potential challenges, it could have been easy for my mom and dad to decide to go through with the abortion. Not my parents though--that was NEVER even an option.
Today, I have no physical limitations, and I graduated both high school and college with honors. As today's verse declares, God has SPARED me for a purpose.
Regardless of whether you were "planned" for by your parents or not, God "planned" you from the foundations of this Earth, and He has spared you too for a purpose. We all have a story, and in that story, many could easily say, "I don't know how I survived THAT situation." Maybe it was overcoming grief, financial pressure, marital issues, physical challenges, etc. When we stay steadfast in our faith during these times, God will show His power and His fame will be spread throughout the Earth.
I challenge you today to honor God for those times that He spared you from the seemingly impossible or if you are feeling hopeless today, begin to thank Him in advance for your healing or victory that is on its way. God has spared you and IS sparing you for a divine purpose.
Dear Lord, I am here ONLY by Your grace. Thank You that You have a purpose for me. I commit ALL of my ways to You. More than anything, I desire to make You known throughout the earth.
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray.
