In God We Trust????

Isaiah 26:3-4   "You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on You because they TRUST YOU. So, trust the Lord always because He is our Rock forever."

I received an email from my daughter Claire yesterday that greatly blessed me. The email contained a story of an extremely wealthy man who came across a penny on a sidewalk. Upon seeing the penny, the man intently stared at it, picked it up, and placed it in his pocket. Someone who was with the man wondered why a person of such prominence and wealth would react in such a way. As the evening went by, this individual's curiosity got the best of him, and he finally posed the question that had been consuming him.

Penny The wealthy man without reservation explained that whenever he discovers a coin, he is reminded of the inscription on all U.S. coins -- "In God We Trust." He added that upon finding the coin, he reflects on whether he is truly TRUSTING God in whatever situation he is currently in. He concluded his explanation by stating that he then picks up the coin as a declaration to God that he DOES trust Him.

As I read this account, I thought about how a seemingly insignificant coin -- a penny -- could trigger such a reaction from a man of such great power! As I thought of his response, I began to think of how I would have probably -- in my "busyness" -- just walked past the penny. I would have definitely missed the opportunity to check-in with God -- to thank Him for being my ROCK.

I challenge you today to always take the opportunity to reflect on the "In God I Trust" inscription when coming across a coin no matter what situation you may find yourself in. Proverbs 3:5 states "Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don't depend on your own understanding." This is so vital because we often want to take things into our own hands in dire situations WHEN God actually wants us to release it ALL in order to grasp the hand that He is extending.

Dear Lord, You assure me in Psalm 91:2 that You are my place of safety and protection. When I think of a place, I imagine a location that I can go to. I pray that I am always reminded -- even by a solitary coin -- that I can always go to you BECAUSE I know that in you I CAN put my TRUST!

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray.
