I can remember a particular situation in my life where I felt like there was nothing more I could say or do to "prove my case." The more I tried, the stronger the opposition seemed to get. I felt as if my name was being tarnished for things I had not done. As tears fell down my face, I opened my Bible, closed my eyes, spun my finger, and then touched a random spot on the black and white pages! Now, this isn't a bible reading practice that I recommend, but God honored my desperate efforts. Underneath my pointer finger laid today's verses. My tears turned to confidence as I read, "Lord, you are my lawyer! Plead my case!"
I was immediately reminded of Romans 8:31, "...If God is for us, who can be against us?" I realized at that moment that I had been trying to fight my own battle when God said that He would do it for me. The author in today's verses did not only ask God to be his lawyer but to be his judge as well. Wouldn't you love to be represented by the one who would also judge the case? The other side would never stand a chance!
I decided to give the situation to God and to stop obsessing over how I could make it right. My words and actions were only making things worse anyhow. The "trial" went on for a little while, but in time, God moved mightily!
I challenge you today that as you face difficult situations, whether it is at work, at home or in your community, allow God to bring truth and justice. Also, allow Him to show you HIS side. You see, there are actually THREE sides to every story: your side, their side and God's side. Allow God to show you areas you can improve as well. Most of the time, the quickest change in others comes when we first change ourselves. As the Great Lawyer, He is more familiar with the courtroom and the best methods that bring about the best results! His methods bring healing, restoration, justice and peace.
