Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint." |
When I was a little girl, I can remember riding around town with one of my uncles playing the "red light" game. The object of this game was to never completely stop at a red light. Before contacting authorities, please know that he NEVER ran the light or crossed the white line, but he would start slowing down immediately when the traffic light turned red. As the light lingered, he would continue to release and press his brakes advancing inch by inch. My little face lit up like Christmas-half green from becoming carsick and half red from laughter.
Although this game may not be the most appropriate inspiration and is not recommended lol, I was reminded of times in life where we are presented with a "red light" or a time of waiting. Maybe it's waiting on test results, on a call back from a job interview, for a special day like a graduation or a wedding, for conception (then for labor and delivery), for a healing or for healing in a situation... We have all been in seasons of "waiting," in our lives. These times can certainly cause stress, fear, doubt and pure exhaustion especially when waiting for great lengths of time.
However, in Isaiah 40:31, the Bible says that your strength will be renewed if you "wait" on the Lord. So, what does it mean to wait? Here's where my uncle's bad driving has inspired me-waiting on the Lord doesn't mean that we are supposed to come to a complete halt! When you are waiting for something, you are essentially a "waiter." What does a waiter do? A waiter serves constantly making sure the one they are serving is satisfied.
I challenge you today that as you "wait" in your various situations, don't come to a halt-paralyzed with anxiety! Diligently and actively SERVE the Lord, and He will renew your strength! |

I thank you Lord that as I wait on you, your Word says I will mount up on wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint. It is clear that as I trust and serve You daily, Your plans for me are to SOAR! I will wait on You as You work out the situations in my life.
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen |
