We've gathered some of the best craft vendors and distributors in South Texas. Come out to the shore for some fun and sun and take in some beach side shopping at the same time!

Happy Mother's Day to all those hardworking moms out there! It's your
day and I hope you take full advantage!
    
Phillip and I will be showcasing d'art at the Boerne Market Days! This is the market that we cut our teeth on and we are super excited to be going back and seeing all of our friends! We will, of course, be marketing for the Island Moon Market and will hopefully come back with some new vendors for our market. We participated in the first Saturday market at the Lawrence Street T Head last weekend and it was a lot of fun. Lot's of folks attended and the Buc Days parade was a scene to say the least!
  
May is that one month out of the year that the schedule gets turned on its head! Beach to Bay is the 3rd Saturday and Memorial Day is the 4th Saturday. Our Sponsor, City of Corpus Christ Parks & Recreation, needs the parking lot we usually set up in for yearly commitments to others so we will help out by moving the market to other dates and venues. To accommodate the locals by not missing a month, we will set up on Sunday, May 19th at the Sea Wall. With our produce vendor and all your favorites, this will be a fabulous bonus market for all!
  
The next Saturday will host the 2nd Annual Memorial Day Market in McGaughan Park on S. Shoreline!

We are signing up vendors for both everyday and have every reason to believe the summer will kick off big with both of our May Island Moon Markets!!
  
To help everyone participate in both markets, we are implementing the Summer vendor rates a little early!! See the application link for updated information and rates!
  
Look for our full-color half-page ad in the new edition of Coastal Bend Magazine! Also, we have an ad in Wingspan which is the military base newspaper! Both have fantastic potential to bring lots of folks to the market!

Meet the Vendors 
   

 

 The Green Eyed Turtle

My name is Norma and I am the owner of The Green Eyed Turtle! My husband David is a retired firefighter who served the Fort Worth Fire Department for 35 years!

I too retired after running 5 separate charitable organizations simultaneously for 12 years.

 

We moved to Corpus 3 years ago because we wanted to finally live in our dream place. We have vacationed here for the last 25 years and have been in love with the beach here for that long. Our son and his family moved here a year later to be close to us. They currently live with us but we are building them a house next door to us. We all love living on the island and our two grandsons (Blake 11 and Rylan 7) are the light of our lives.

 

How on earth did we get started on our adventure called the Green Eyed Turtle? My in-law, Bonnie, and I decided we wanted to start a business making jewelry and shelled decor items. We were trying to think of a catchy name for our business and my son suggested The Green Eyed Turtle because I had been given one many years ago by a good friend. Our first market was the Island Moon Market. We took our turtle (Tina) as our mascot and decoration for our booth. We sold a few pieces of our jewelry but everyone who came by our booth wanted to buy the turtle. Being the savvy business women that we thought we were, we realized we needed to make turtles and less jewelry. We used our turtle, Tina, as an inspiration and with modifications came up with our version of a green eyed turtle. And the rest, as they say, is history.

We have even been written about in an article in the Caller Times. People now refer to me as the Turtle Lady. I've been referred to worse than that in my life!

 

We love the Island Moon Market and feel at home there. We have made many friends with other vendors and locals who shop the market.

Editor Notes: We did not know that we were Norma's first market until she sent in this bio!! We are so proud! We are also the proud owners of a Green Eyed Turtle! My cat Wookie uses it as a scratching post (even though he doesn't have claws!) Norma didn't mention that she is an accomplished painter as well. We also are the proud owners of one of her original works of art! It hangs proudly on my entry wall for all to see. We love the Green Eyed Turtle and so will you.
