Vocabulary.com Vocabulary Bowl Top 20 Round-Up - March
Los Al Soars to Top 20 in Vocabulary Bowl

When we hear the term "March Madness" we think of college basketball playoffs.

However, for students at Los Al, March Madness also means Vocabulary Bowl. For the past year and half, Los Al students have been active participants and users of vocabulary.com.

This program helps our students learn a wide range of vocabulary used in multiple contexts and subjects that promote advanced literacy, understanding, and use of SAT-level words. Moreover, it serves as an incentive as our school competes with other schools to earn points for words learned and quizzes passed.

The latest video on the national Vocabulary Bowl competition for the month of March has just been released. Click here to watch the video or click on the video above to watch it.

I hope you can watch the whole thing, but if you want to jump to the segment on Los Al , you can cue it to 2:25Special congratulations to Ms. D'Souza!

Keep pushing, Los Alamitos! The national competition ends on Saturday, April 30th.  By the way, students can access vocabulary.com 24/7, allowing for ubiquitous learning from home, school, the road, on a smart phone, at a cafe, and beyond.

Congratulations to our amazing teachers and students on another outstanding month of word mastery.

Warm regards,

Brandon Martinez

All Los Al Elementary Schools Receive Gold Ribbon

Nice shoutout from the OC Register to Los Al Unified for having ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS RECEIVE GOLD RIBBON!

We are now one of very few GOLD RIBBON DISTRICTS in California, in which all of our schools are GOLD RIBBON.  Congratulations to all of our schools on this fantastic achievement.

It is inspiring to know that our Griffins had such a world class foundation that prepared them for success in high school. The high school also received the Gold Ribbon as well.

"In a few school districts, such as in Los Alamitos Unified, most or all of their elementary schools won the honor."  --- OC Register
