Softball Downs Mission Viejo 4-1 to Earn #1 Rank in the Nation
It was by no means a cake walk. The Diablos showed up ready to play and a pitching duel was apparent. However, behind stellar defense, the Griffins found ways to get on base and knock in four runs across seven innings of play. Despite a few moments when Mission Viejo appeared to be building momentum, Ryan Denhart did what she needed to do on the mound to keep the Diablos from scoring. She threw a complete game and gave up one run. Lindsi Dennis and Jade Loe had RBI doubles, Ariana Belarde had a run-scoring triple, and Mary Iakopo capped the scoring with an RBI single.
