Griffins Come Back From 15 Down to Defeat Santa Margarita in 2nd Round of CIF State Playoffs.

Words cannot describe the elation, excitement, and pure joy the players, coaches, students, and supporters felt and expressed this past Saturday as the Griffins came back from being down by 15 points in the third quarter. The boys battled back to end the third down 50-45 and continued to play stout defense and cranked up the scoring. Every player contributed in big and small ways. For some it was a key rebound, for others it was cheering non-stop, and for others it was hitting key baskets. As the Griffins capped the game with a dunk, there was no holding back the mighty student section to share in one of the greatest come back victories in Los Al Basketball history. Softball Goes Undefeated in TOC to Win Championship

They simply could not be stopped. Every team the Griffins faced struggled to score and could not stop the scoring power. After big wins over Pacifica in the semi-finals, Los Al took on Mater Dei in the championship. What was supposed to be a low-scoring pitching duel, turned out to be a scoring display as the Griffins hit two home runs on top of all the other runs they scored. Katie Ladd hit a two-run homer to put Los Al up 8-1, and Jade Loe added a three run blast that locked up the 11-1 win.  Read the OC Varsity article by clicking here.

Los Al Ice Hockey Marches Towards Championship

Los Alamitos Varsity won their first round in ice hockey play-offs against last year's division winner Villa Park HS 8-2. Team was lead by captain and senior Anthony DeMarco with 4 goals! Assistant captain and sophomore Keanu Maunula scored 2 goals.

In Division 2 Keanu Maunula won the scoring title with 15 goals. He was also first in total points for the league with 26 pts (goals and assists). Anthony DeMarco was 2nd in total points with 25.

Show Choir Continues to Sweep the Categories; Grand Champs Again

As the Los Al Show Choir prepares for Nationals in Nashville in the coming weeks, their preparation for the competition indicates the groups are getting better each week.  Over the past few competitions, the groups have won first place in several categories, featured soloist awards, and have secured the Grand Champions for each of the competitions. The schools they are going against are also top-notch and the hard work is clearly paying off in awards. Over 3,000 Los Al community members, families, and students saw the Sound FX full show at the recent All District Choral Show.
