This Week is National School Counseling Week
To celebrate we would like to have students and staff participate in a We Are One, Spirit Week! As Counselors we are often tied up in our offices and would like to make ourselves more available to our students. This week is an opportunity to get more involved on campus and thank all of our stakeholders for their ongoing support.

Here are some activities that will be going on this week:

Monday 2/1:  "Your Future Is So Bright!" Wear Bright or Neon Colors.

Tuesday 2/2:"Be the Reason Someone Smiles Today" Please pass out the smiley face buttons to your 2nd period classes which will be in your boxes by Monday afternoon.

Wednesday 2/3: "May Your School Counselor Be with You" Upperclassmen wear black, Underclassmen wear white for the Star Wars theme Winter Assembly. Counselors will be passing out free shirts at the Queen of Courts Basketball game.

Thursday 2/4: "Team Up With Your School Counselors" Wear Team Jerseys/Sports Attire. Attend signing day in the gym during lunch.

Friday 2/5: "Your School Counselors Love You" Wear Red. Attend the lunchtime event behind the PAC. FREE LUNCH for Teachers, Music, and Announcement of Social Media Winner.

Please participate in this week's social media campaign! Students will be posting pictures with a friend, teacher, counselor, administrator or staff member that has been a positive influence in their life! Use the hash tag: #Weare1LosAl Feel free to join in on the posts.
SAT PREP Registration Begins This Week for the Spring Class
With Ms. Hart At The Helm, Juniors Prepping For The May Exam Are In Excellent Hands!
Click the image above for the same PDF Registration Form that will be passed out to Juniors this week at Los Al.  For questions about this class and other college matters, please contact Jessica Hart at jhart@losal.org or Shelley Riekenberg in the College & Career Center for assistance.

To assist our Griffins in the college application process, we will be offering an SAT Prep Program geared specifically for Juniors planning on taking the May 7th SAT Exam. (Typically, Juniors take their SATs for the first time in May, then SAT Subject Exams in June, and then SATs again in the Fall of their Senior Year.)

This preparatory class is designed to raise your child's score, and provide your student with the same exact strategies that leading SAT Prep companies charge over $1,500 for. And the best part is... we're only asking for a $90 donation to LAEF cover the up-front cost of facilities and materials!

This SAT Prep program will be filled up on a first-come, first-served basis. And class meets most Saturday mornings in either the McAuliffe MPR or in LAHS Room 153/154, from 8am - 11am until the day of the test on May 7, 2015. All materials will be provided for FREE.

Los Al Winter Athletics continue to take the Sunset League by storm. Girls Soccer has remained in the top 3 in league and his ranked #10. Boys Soccer gained a huge 2-1 road win over Edison last week and has moved into first place in league and is ranked #5. Both Girls and Boys Basketball are undefeated in league play at 6-0 and both defeated Edison last Friday night. While the Lady Griffins stormed away with a 67-58 victory, the Boys needed a timely three-pointer from Pepe Garcia with 18 seconds left to go up by two points. They held on for the win.

The Girls are ranked #7 and Boys are ranked #5.
