Los Al Hosts "The Biggest Assembly Ever"

Pictured above, the stars of THE DUFF and the cast of Los Al's Show Choir conducted a a photo shoot after the assembly and represented Los Alamitos High to the fullest!
Los Al was chosen to host the Biggest Assembly Ever - an anti-cyber bullying assembly, simulcast across the country to over 20,000 students! The event was hosted by Keenan West, with special guests Bella Thorne, Mae Whitman, Skyler Samuels and Bianca A. Santos from the new teen comedy, "The Duff." Our very own Sound FX performed the "Mean Stinks" campaign song live on stage and several of our Griffins participated in a post assembly interview which will air on The Today Show (date not yet determined).
The Los Alamitos School District takes bullying very seriously - our active Anti-Bullying Task Force meets regularly and is working hard to educate our students, teachers, parents, and community members about all forms of bullying, and how to stop bullying from spreading.
As we approach Valentine's Day, remember to spread your love and good will to others. Research has proven that confident students are rarely bullied - share a positive message to someone you know and love....it means more than you can imagine!!!

Los Al's Annual Mentor Breakfast:
This Event Is A 21st Century "Career Day" For Students, And It's Fantastic!!!
Career professionals volunteered their time on Friday to mentor Los Al students in jobs and interest areas that are already appealing to aspiring young professionals.
The fact is this... in order for students to succeed, we need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work --- which means not only college readiness, but career readiness as well. Students must be armed with both the academic skills and technical skills needed to prepare them to achieve in the 21st century.
Fortunately, for our Griffins, they go to Los Al!
Our students had that opportunity to connect with Special Guest Speaker Matt "Money" Smith of KROQ and NFL NETWORK fame, as well as adults from our community, and learn all about their career experiences at the mentor breakfast on Friday. Shelley Riekenberg, our College and Career Center counselor, organized the event which gathered a wide array of accomplished professionals offering our Griffins guidance on various career pathways. Over a fully donated breakfast (and some sweet treats!) our students and their mentors engaged in meaningful conversations regarding college and career planning.
The messaging was loud and clear....it takes hard work, perseverance, and motivation to reach your goals; and if you love and are passionate about your work, it will bring meaning to your life.

Applications Are Available Now To Pick Up In The Counseling Office
Career professionals volunteered their time on Friday to mentor Los Al students in jobs
and interest areas that are already appealing to aspiring young professionals.
The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a scholastic organization based on coursework and grades. Application to the club must be made by the student at the beginning of each semester. Applications are now available in the Counseling Office and are due no later than February 20th. CSF is all about "Scholarship for Service," and members donate their time and resources through local community events and club drives.
To qualify for GOLD SEAL BEARER at graduation, a senior must be a member of CSF for at least four (4) semesters based on their grades in 10th through 12th, and one must be in the second semester of their senior year. GOLD SEAL BEARERS will have a gold seal attached to their diploma, notation made on their transcript, and recognition given at graduation.
