.............. Unlimited Possibilities!
The Art Of The Explosion:
Known For Their Engaging Experiment Demos, The Los Al Science Department Relishes Their Penchant For Setting Learning Ablaze!
Mr. Jones (pictured above) can often be found on the outside of his classroom setting something on fire or causing a chemical reaction --- all in the name of SCIENCE!

The Los Al Science Department has always valued the rich learning experience that comes from conducting labs and experiments with students.  And now that technology has enhanced daily classroom teaching, and resources and knowledge are more accessible than ever before, the frequency of Los Al labs has the potential to increase as inquiry-based learning becomes an even more important learning modality.

For students, they'll still be tasked with the same rigors of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics over the course of their high school career.  But in this new era of American Education, look for Los Al's Science Department to come up with novel demonstrations above and beyond the classroom that push student thinking and satisfy a years-long penchant for being on the cutting edge!
A Community Art Display:
The Future Of Visual Arts On Campus Is Sure To Be Influenced by Mr. Solis' Student Project

Mr. Solis created an image of nearly 300 student projects from his classes this semester and had them printed on a brand new HP Latex 360.

The total image size is 6 feet (w) by 4 feet (h) and is full size at 300 pixels per inch.
This new technology is similar to an inkjet printer, but instead of ink, it uses latex paint. Therefore, it is suitable for outdoor display and will not fade, chip, or for at least five years in direct sunlight and weather.

Please swing by the middle stairwell in the 700 Wing to take a look!  The print was donated courtesy of Franchise Services, a print shop based in Mission Viejo.
With Debate Comes Knowledge:
Sometimes, It's Boring If We All Agree... Task Your Students To Argue, Defend, Criticize, And Evaluate And Watch How Far They Go!!!
These Griffins are caught in the midst of a heated academic debate. We know from research that when we challenge each other's thinking, and push students to qualify their viewpoints, learning is maximized by everyone who's engaged in the discussion.

Saturday night's Winter Formal was an absolute blast.  Students had a safe and fun time at the Long Beach Convention Center in the midst of a little rain here and there.

School, like life, can sometimes boil down to two things:  Work and Play.  Yes, it is extremely important to work hard in the classroom, on the court and on the field, or in the studio practicing for a showcase or performance.  We value those things at Los Al (Academics, Athletics, and The Arts), and they are part and parcel of our identity.

But we also value having fun.  Playing.  It's that fourth "A," Activities, that helps define our culture as one that doesn't take itself too seriously, and is always willing to try something new simply for the sake of experience.  Dances with over 1,000 students having a good time are a perfect example of this.  And we are grateful to all the student and parent organizers for putting on such a wonderful event.
