TEACHERS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND STAFF:
If you have not done so already, please click the picture above to access the Smarter Balanced Testing Module that California High Schools will administer this Spring.
- After you click the link, just hit "Sign In" from the webpage to enter as a "GUEST" of the system.
- On the next page select "Grade 11" to access the high school portion of the exam. (From now on, California will only test students in 11th grade in Math & English.)
- On the next page, there are 6 options of tests to take --- 3 in English and 3 in Math. Our suggestion is to take the "Training Test" to experience what Common Core Computer-Based Testing will "feel like." (For a deeper experience of the rigor, depth, and breadth of these new assessments, please explore the Practice Tests and Performance Tasks.)
- The next pages will ask you a series of accommodation and set-up questions. Most users will default to the pre-slugged settings.
- Lastly, the system will ask you to double-check your sound and verify your settings. Click "Begin Test Now" and explore!
As you take these practice tests, please consider the following... Unlike the exams of yesteryear, this Common Core test focuses on assessing a student's SKILL and DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE (as opposed to just content mastery). If it feels "different," that's because it is. And our students will be more prepared for college and career success as a result of this shift in learning.
