  KGBDayKORE Gives Back Day
High School I at the Salvation Army.

On May 6, KORE Academy students, teachers and parents fanned out across Fayette County, participating in community service projects. In addition to helping the students learn something about their community, the projects brought the classes closer together.

"It made us closer as friends." - Emily

"It was fun to make people happy!" - Basit

"It was great to help the hungry. It made me feel good." - Michael
The Middle School weighed, bagged, and boxed cheez-its at God's Pantry.

The organizations who benefited included the Salavation Army, God's Pantry, Wesley Village, and Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to our school-wide day of giving back to our community, KGBD also served as our spring fundraiser. Each student sent out 10 letters to family and friends requesting sponsorships for their service. In the end, we raised nearly $9,000 from 125 donors for the KORE general fund which will be used to support Tuition Assistance, technology and curriculum!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

Graduation/Awards Ceremony

On the evening of May 24, KORE Academy said good bye to our two graduating seniors and honored students for their achievements throughout the year.

It was also the last graduation and award ceremony for our outgoing director, Carol Douglas. She was honored at the ceremony by the students, teachers and board with mementos of her 13 years of service that include a memory book of letters from current and former students, parents and teachers as well as with a silver cup.

The Douglas Award for Excellence
in Teaching
The board also established an Excellence in Teaching award in her honor. The Douglas Award for Excellence in Teaching with be given annually to recognize and reward one KORE Academy teacher with a monetary award of $500 and a physical award. The inaugural award was spononsored by LYNN IMAGING and the first receipient was, fittingly, Carol Douglas.

We are thrilled that Mrs. Douglas will be remaining at KORE Academy as a teacher!
