After the school year draws to a close each May, I make a habit of taking some time to reflect upon our successes and consider ways to improve in the coming year. I personally enjoy this relaxed time of reflection.

Just one example of a success this past year was instituting a time of celebrating our students' successes at the end of each quarter, rather than waiting for the end-of-year Award's Night. Teachers enjoyed this time of honoring our students' efforts, and students were motivated to continue their good work.

After a busy summer of preparation, I look toward the coming year with excited anticipation of what is to come!

We have three new teachers who come to us with a variety of experiences and strengths. We welcome Melissa Ballard (primary), Amy Lykins & Mary Ann Patrick (high school), and Laura Jackson (Cognitive Skills Training). More on this  program at the end of the newsletter!

Welcome Jennifer Compton
We are pleased to announce that KORE Academy has hired a part time development officer, Jennifer Compton. Jennifer joined our staff in June and will be reporting to the board.
Jennifer's strong background in fundraising and relationship building will help her as she seeks
to build relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations that will sustain our school and mission and build capacity. It is important that we develop reliable sources of income for KORE in addition to tuition.Development
Thank you CCB!
Dylan was one of the kids who had a blast at the night of fun held at the Explorium of Lexington as part of Children's Charity week.
The 35th Children's Charity Classic golf tournament took place in late June. $500,180 was distributed to 35 Central Kentucky agencies and organizations who work hard to make life better for kids. KORE Academy is proud to be a recipient of a $10,000 grant for our tuition assistance fund!

 EndofYear

Our new Cognitive Skills Training program, based on Carol Brown's Equipping Minds, will be offered to all students and is something we're especially excited about. This program incorporates games and learning exercises to improve a student's working memory, visual and auditory processing, attention, processing speed, logic, comprehension, and more. Besides its proven benefits, it's fun stuff!

We also welcome several new families and are starting the year with our highest enrollment ever!

Here's to a great year to come!

Sincerely,

Carol Douglas
