1. The Board may allow students  to be exempt from end of course final examinations in accordance with the administrative procedures set forth below. The Board authorizes the superintendent to establish administrative procedures consistent with student achievement, and in furtherance of this
policy.

2. If a student elects to take an exam in which exemption requirements have been met, the student will not be
penalized by an exam grade that would lower the student's average in that class for the nine-week average.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
1. Grades 9-12
A student in grades 9-12 may choose to be exempt from end of course final exams provided the following
requirements have been met:
1.1. The student has not received ISS or OSS during the school year.
1.2 The student has an eighty-five (85) or above average in the class.
1.3 The student has not missed more than three (3) days/periods in the class (excused or unexcused*) prior to days
designated for final exams for full credit one semester courses.
1.4. The student has not missed more than six (6) days/periods in the class (excused or unexcused*) prior to days
designated for final exams for full credit courses lasting two semesters.
1.5. The student has not missed more than one (1) day/period in the class (excused or unexcused*) prior to days
designated for final exams for half credit courses.
1.6. The student has not been assigned placement at the Structured Day Program during the school year.
1.7. The course is NOT a prerequisite course for SATP (If your child is enrolled in English I, World History, Mississippi Studies, World Geography, Intro to Biology or Transition to Algebra, he is NOT exempt from those specific exams and will be required to take those exams.
* College visits are considered school related absences. Eleventh and twelfth graders are allowed two college visits
per year. School related absences do not affect exemption status. In other words, students may still be exempt if
school related absences cause the total number of absences to exceed the exemption limit.

A Herff Jones representative will be in the Administration Building on Tuesday, May 14 during lunches to deliver class rings
for those students who ordered one.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY STOLES

National Honor Society Seniors may now

TALK ABOUT IT

As a reflection of Tupelo Public School District's commitment to fostering a safer, more comfortable learning environment for students and faculty, we are proud to introduce a new program called Talk About ItŪ. Your son or daughter received a letter today about this service.

Talk About ItŪ is the nation's first and only anonymous online messaging servicing. It is a preventative solution focused on bridging the communication gap between students and faculty to create a place where teachers can teach and students can learn. It also:
* opens the channel and frequency of communications between students and administration
* fosters a safer and more comfortable learning environment
* provides students with a mechanism to reach out to adults and report problems anonymously
* builds positive connections between students and faculty members
* resolves student problems in a safe, efficient and timely manner
* allows students to assist in creating and maintaining a safe school environment

To learn more about this service, please visit

This service will be made available during the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Administrators at Tupelo High School will be responding to student concerns during those hours. Messages may be left 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

  • Student will Create a Folder on MacBook Desktop titled "Help Desk"
  •  Student will Copy all School-related Work to this folder that the student needs to save in the event repair or disciplinary action returns the MacBook to its originally-issued state
  • The Help Desk will ensure that the files in the "Help Desk" folder return to the student's MacBook upon return to the student.   The Help Desk will ONLY be responsible for copying and reinstalling this file on the student's computer.  If student files are not in this folder or a folder is not saved on the Desktop, the Help Desk is not held responsible for missing student work.

THS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INVITES GRADUATES TO GET ON BOARD!
THS Alumni Board
THS Alumni Association Executive Board, chaired by 1976 graduate Scott Reed, recently held its first organizational luncheon meeting in the Performing Arts Center. The founding members were made up of graduates that spanned the1950s into early 2000s. The group met to formulate ideas about its mission and to establish various committees.

If you are a graduate of THS and would like to join or serve on a committee, please contact Mary Thomas via email @ methomas@tupeloschools.com.

A website and Facebook are being established, and a quarterly newsletter will be sent to members updating you on THS news and events, and posting any upcoming class reunions.

SPECIAL DIET MEALS

Students who have special diet needs (medical or religious requirements/preferences) can be provided special substitutes in the THS cafeteria.

Contact the THS Cafeteria Manager for more information 662-841-8976.
Dropping off items for Students
Parents, you may still drop off lunches and personal items for students in the Administration Building, but we no longer have Senior Office Aides who are able to deliver.

It would help us greatly if you let your child know that the item or lunch will be available at the main desk. They will not be allowed to leave class instruction to come to the Administration Building. They will need to pick up the item between classes or during lunch.

Remember - we will not accept drinks or lunches in commercial fast food bags or containers.
