KEY CLUB MEMBERS NURTURE LOVE FOR READING! | |
Junior Michael Ray reads to a class at Parkway Elementary School.
|
THS Key Club began a program called Reading Keys. The program was developed by Key Club sponsor Jeramy Turner as a way to get students excited about reading. Key Club asked elementary school teachers throughout TPSD what book would they like to have read to their students. Then the young men of Key Club visit those classes to read the book and ask high level questions based on the book. At the end of the reading, the Key Club member donates the book for the classes' future enjoyment.
Jeramy Turner said, "The students are real excited to have a high school student in their class, hoping in return it generates excitement for reading in the young students and boosts test scores for them and for years to come."
Since March, THS Key Club has purchased, read, and donated 52 books to Rankin, Pierce, Parkway, and Joyner Elementary Schools.

Dropping off items for Students
| Parents, you may still drop off lunches and personal items for students in the Administration Building, but we no longer have Senior Office Aides who are able to deliver.
It would help us greatly if you let your child know that the item or lunch will be available at the main desk. They will not be allowed to leave class instruction to come to the Administration Building. They will need to pick up the item between classes or during lunch.
Remember - we will not accept drinks or lunches in commercial fast food bags or containers.
