Greetings!
Happy 2017!!! I hope everyone had a restful holiday season. I am looking forward to a new year full of growth for our students and productive community relationships for our organization.
What is on our 'wish list' for 2017?
(1) To build a learning lab with computers and resources available for students to drop in during certain hours for additional help with their literacy goals. This would be wonderful for current students who are transitioning and waiting for a different tutor, as well as for students who are new and waiting for a tutor.
(2) To build a mentoring program to help our adult students job shadow or investigate career and college interests to better their lives.
This is a great time to review your student's goals and visit with me if you would like to modify your instructional materials. I will be reaching out to you about any new changes in instructional offerings available through CLC and our community partners. You are a treasure to CLC!
Warm wishes for a healthy and happy New Year.

Holiday Traditions Potluck Event
What a great turnout for our Holiday Traditions and Potluck on Dec. 13. So many happy, hungry, talkative folks enjoying delicious food and fellowship at our 5th annual event. If you weren't able to attend, you missed a wonderful time. Here's a suggestion for a New Year's Resolution - resolve to attend next year's potluck and be part of the merriment!

Articles Needed for Student Newsletter
Happy New Year Tutors! In honor of a new year, Amy and I are asking you to encourage your students to write a story for the Student Newsletter, which comes out every quarter. We are currently collecting stories for the March issue. The stories can be about anything, and would be a great exercise in their learning experience. We look forward to receiving your students' stories! Please send them to a.reingold@cravenliteracy.org or d.guillory@cravenliteracy.org.

Carol's Tutor Tips:
Remember the Informal Assessment Packets? If you did not receive an Informal Assessment Packet for your student, please email me at c.mccormick@cravenliteracy.org. The program staff would love to meet with you to discuss how you can help your student focus specifically on exercises and activities they need to improve their literacy skills. If you have given your student an Informal Assessment, please submit the test results to us by dropping by the office or slipping an envelope in the door slot in Office A. Thank you for your support of your student and of CLC!!
