Carol's Tutor Tips: Using Informal Assessments Amy, Debby and Sarah (a valuable office volunteer) have tirelessly created the first set of informal assessments for your students. Each student has a specific informal assessment matched to the pre-test your student took at the beginning of the instructional year. How do you use the Informal Assessment? You may use the informal assessment as a study guide. You can study one question each tutoring session and review important strategies and skills your student needs to use to understand the question. You may use the informal assessment to evaluate the instructional materials you are currently using. Are you studying what your student needs to know for their test? If not, think about making an appointment with me to look at some alternate or additional materials you can use with your student to improve their educational growth. You may use the informal assessment to teach test taking tips. Many or our students have never taken a test or have limited experience in this area. Practicing test taking skills will help your student perform with increased accuracy on the post-test, and inform you and CLC what instructional areas will be important to study to increase your student's literacy levels.
There are many other ways in which you can use these informal assessments. Please email me with any questions you have about this exciting new program.
