Greetings!
We are so excited to welcome Amy Reingold to CLC!!! Please give her a warm welcome if you see her. She wants to learn everyone's names so she may ask to take your picture in order to create her very own Picture Dictionary.
Don't forget the New Readers' Library is up and running in Office F located in the Resource area. Please take and return books as you need them. There is no formal check out process for this resource.
Thank you to each and every one of you who gives their time and talent to our organization.

Executive Director's Report
It's with sadness we bid our long time Student Service Coordinator, Cathy Weiss, a fond farewell. She has been a tremendous asset to the Council for the past 9 years and will truly be missed by all. Cathy is starting a new life adventure in Winchester, Virginia and will be making the move within a few weeks. We wish her much success and happiness.
Stepping into the position of Student Services Coordinator is Amy Reingold. Amy comes to us with the ideal qualifications for this position and we are fortunate to have her join our team. In addition, she has been one of our tutors and looks forward to becoming a Tutor Trainer.
Carol McCormick, our Instructional Services Coordinator, has agreed to transform her position into Program Coordinator. It means some added responsibilities to Carol's already full schedule, but we know she is definitely up to the task and will do a brilliant job!
I look forward to seeing you all at the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on September 13th.
Sandra

New Student Services Coordinator - Amy Reingold
We are excited to welcome our new Student Services Coordinator - Amy Reingold. Amy has been in New Bern a short time and found her way to CLC shortly after arrival. She has been tutoring a couple of ELL students as well as helping out in the office. Amy was a trained textile artist and professional chef in a previous life, but always a volunteer for literacy issues. Enjoying a good tale, she also is a published co-author of a three book series called Capital Girl, under the pseudonym Ella Monroe. A total parrot nut, dog lover and coffee addict, in her free time she can be found using her glue gun on something or reading a book. Amy is married and has two awesome daughters. Amy says "I can not express adequately how thrilled I am to be working with the great team here at CLC." We have seen first hand Amy's empathy and desire to help students, so we are delighted to have Amy join our team.

Next In-Service: Targeted Tutoring (For tutors only)
"We are introducing informal assessments that you can use with your students to track their progress. We are asking tutors to give their students these informal assessments in October and in March. This way tutors and students will have immediate feedback on what to study. This will empower our students to make educational gains and achieve their literacy goals. Please watch for an email, signs posted around the offices, and sign-up sheets for tutors to register for the in-service. "
