DOUGLAS STEEL RECEIVES SAFETY RECOGNITION

Douglas Steel is proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive year the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Michigan, The Association of Union Contractors (TAUC) and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has awarded Douglas Steel their top safety award in 2014 recognizing us for our 2014 DART rate being 0.00 for our erection division.

  

This outstanding safety performance also earned an Honorable Mention Safety Achievement Award from the Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) and First Place Category 3 from the Central Fabricators Association (CFA) 

  

Douglas Steel continues to be a leader in the industry in safety performance. We have worked for over seven years without a lost time injury.

 

Our current Experience Modification Rate (EMR) is 0.57 for both our shop and field operations in 2015. These outstanding safety records is a direct result of our company's safety culture which instills an attitude of "Safety First" in all activities as well as our loss prevention and return to work programs.

 
**  PROJECT UPDATES **
MSU Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB)
Erection of structural steel for the Linac Tunnel was just recently completed paving the way for steel erection to begin on the Linac Building shown above.The Linac Building is expected to be complete by July. Once the site conditions are ready structural steel erection for the Target High Bay area will begin. Current schedule for the start of the Target High Bay is fall 2015.

In all some 2,700 tons of structural steel will be detailed, fabricated and erected on the FRIB site located on the campus of Michigan State University.
Douglas Steel is under contract with Barton Malow Company on the $730 million project which is slated for completion in 2022.  
CMU Biosciences Building
Structural steel erection is scheduled to be complete in July for the CMU Biosciences building on Central Michigan University's campus in Mount Pleasant.

Douglas Steel is under contract with Clark Construction Company for the $70 million five story project encompassing 170,000 square feet and over 260 tons of structural steel.
