FireKeepers Casino

Battle Creek, Michigan

Clark Construction was the Construction Manager for this new 252,800 sq. ft., Las Vegas-style casino constructed on a 78-acre greenfield site along the busy
I-94 Detroit to Chicago corridor.  The FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek is developed by the Nottawaseppi Band of Huron Potawatomi Tribe.

Under a very demanding schedule, Douglas Steel was contracted to fabricate and erect 1,915 tons of structural steel and miscellaneous iron.  The structural steel construction had to keep pace with the rapidly unfolding design to support the surge of skilled trades working feverishly to meet the August Grand Opening deadline.

FireKeepers' porte-cochere entrance way is rolled both ways resembling the shape of a great eagle.  It's wings stretch out across the entirety of the front entrance, while the eagle's beak dips toward a pool at the front, giving the huge bird a thirsty posture.

The expansion's marquee project will be a 242 room resort-style hotel that will include an indoor pool, exercise facility, full service restaurant, and business center.

The NHBP's expansion also includes expanding their bingo operation by doubling the capacity from it's current 250 player format to 500 players per session by increasing the gaming space to 10,000 square feet.

Also included in the expansion plan is a full service, multi-purpose event center.  The event center will be capable of seating more than 2,000 guests in a concert venue.  When not in use as a music venue, the space can be reconfigured to accommodate trade shows, corporate meetings, banquets and various other events.

Just the punch we needed!

"We needed a steel contractor that could be a driving force on this intense schedule driven project.  Douglas Steel gave us the momentum we needed by collaborating with the design/build team to deliver the critical components supporting our charge to the scheduled August Grand Opening.
We are excited to be working with Douglas Steel again on this next phase of expansion."
