Deacon Stephen Lefort (left) and Rev. André Melancon are pictured in the EDW Union Wednesday Night for ANEW. The theme of the night was, "Dare to be a Disciple." The two gave witness to their call for discipleship.
The event was hosted by Campus Ministry.

Alum of the Year
The Alumni Association of Edward Douglas White Catholic High School has announced Edmond Deramee '41 as the recipient of the 2014 Alumnus of the Year Award.
The Alumnus of the Year Award is given to a graduate of Thibodaux College, Mount Carmel Academy, Thibodaux Central Catholic, or E. D. White Catholic, who exemplifies the charism of the Sisters of Mount Carmel and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in his or her life and who has achieved success in the global community.
Deramee will be honored at the Homecoming Mass on Thursday, October 16, and at an Alumnus of the Year luncheon that will follow at Envie Restaurant in Thibodaux. Please contact Kaye Constant at kconstant@htdiocese.org if you wish to attend the luncheon.

FACS Class
The FACS class helped Mrs. Galey's kindergarten class at St. Joseph with an art project. EDW student Hali Westerman is shown helping Ray Bergeron.

Student Highlight
Tabitha Kearns, was selected by faculty and her peers as E. D. White Catholic's D.A.R. Good Citizen. Kearns is now eligible to compete for state and national honors and scholarships.

Varsity Team
The E. D. White Catholic varsity football team defeated Central Catholic of Morgan City 32-6 on Thursday. Next action for the team is at home Friday against Catholic High of New Iberia starting at 7:00 P.M.

Volleyball Teams
On Wednesday, the JV volleyball team defeated Country Day 2 to 0. The 8th grade fell 0 to 2 and the varsity lost 0 to 3.
On Friday, the 9th grade volleyball team got to the semifinals at the St. Thomas More Freshmen Tournament.
Over the weekend, the varsity team had a great showing at the Catholic League Tournament in New Orleans. The team defeated St. Louis Catholic, DeLaSalle, Catholic High of New Iberia and Teurlings Catholic. They lost to Pope John Paul and Mt. Carmel.
On Monday, the 8th grade volleyball team defeated East Thibodaux 3 sets to 0.

Boys and Girls Teams
E. D. White Catholic had impressive showings on Tuesday's Metro New Orleans High School Swim League at the University of New Orleans Aquatic Center.
The Cardinals picked up combined wins over Chalmette (252-65.) In the boys meet, E. D. White defeated Chalmette (112-46) and Vandebilt (114-54) but lost to Holy Cross (95-75). On the girls side, the Cardinals defeated Cabrini (128-39.)

Over the years we have had many amazing alumni and friends of EDW inducted into the E. D. White Catholic High School Hall of Fame or chosen as the Alumnus of the Year. We want to hear from you and know who you think should be nominated for either of these two honors.
