Teacher of the Year
Congratulations
Kris Guillot, biology teacher, was named the Brother Linus Teacher of the Year for the 2012-2013 school year. The award recognizes an educator who teaches in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart by setting clear, high, worthy, and profound expectations for themselves and their students. Faculty members select the recipient of the award annually. Guillot has been a member of the EDW faculty for 22 years. She was awarded by President David Boudreaux at the school-wide assembly Friday. You Will be Missed
28 Years of Service
Ruth Thibodeaux, English teacher, was recognized at Friday's assembly for 28 years of service at E. D. White. Thibodeaux will be retiring after this school year. She is pictured receiving gifts from Student Council members (left) Sydni Faucheaux and Emily Robichaux.
Co-worker Mary Cavell said, "Ruth is the quintessential English teacher. All the students who have passed through her classroom will testify to her professionalism and her high standards of requiring excellence in the work they submit. Many will tell you that the solid foundation she provided for them enabled them to handle the rigors of college English with ease.
As a graduate of E. D. White, Ruth was influenced by the Sisters of Mt. Carmel and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. She has carried on their example of being a truly selfless, caring, Catholic educator. Her presence at E. D. White has always been a support to me, as well as, to many of her coworkers. The warmth of her personality and her loving presence will be greatly missed."
EDW Faculty member Scott Dupont said, "I have the privilege of having worked with Ruth as a student and co-worker. Ruth is always very professional; she is a great friend who will always give you her best in all that she does. Personally, I can say that as a student who did not love English, she captured my attention and love of learning. She was one of my greatest teachers, and I am so honored to now call her my friend.
I am sorry for EDW to lose such an excellent teacher, but I am so happy for her to enjoy her family in retirement. I will miss seeing her around here at school, but I know that we will keep in touch. Thank you for being my friend. I love you!" |
