Calls For NSW Budget to Support Jobs

The Mid North Coast NSW Business Chamber has outlined a five point plan of action for the upcoming NSW Budget to support jobs and grow the economy.

  1. Abolish remaining IGA taxes to reduce the cost of buying and selling small businesses;
  2. Increase payroll tax threshold to encourage small businesses to employ more staff;
  3. Provide a tax rebate to business in cross-border regions to help them compete with Queensland and Victorian-based businesses;
  4. Contribute to a trial of a small business credit guarantee scheme to help business secure finance needed to expand; and
  5. Explore co-operation between OSR and ATO to reduce red tape and costs.

Keep Kids safe in the Industrial Area

At the recent Lake Road Industrial Precinct Roundtable Discussion, the topic of safety in the industrial area continued as a discussion point.

The Industrial area by its nature contains many businesses where large vehicles such as trucks, delivery vans and other large machinery need access to enter and leave business premises, or have a need to park in the street.

Within this precinct there are also a number of small businesses  which attract school aged children and their parents.  These include swim schools, martial arts studios and play centres.  The stakeholders
at the roundtable meetings are concerned for the safety of the children and their parents and ask that parents who take their children into the Industrial Estate are aware that there is large machinery in the area and be cautious when crossing roads and driveways.

Looking both ways, holding hands, walking not running or dawdling and being vigilant in looking out for others, would all help to reduce the risk of an accident.

Breakfast Meeting- Briefing on the White Paper

Steve Murray, Regional Director of the Department of Planning & Infrastructure has offered to do a Breakfast Meeting Briefing on the White Paper for the review of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.  The briefing will occur on Thursday 20 June commencing 7am for 7.30am presentation at Rydges Hotel, Zebu Room Hay Street, Port Macquarie.

The format will be similar to the briefing Steve Murray provided us on the Green Paper. The Chamber encourages all members to consider attending the briefing on 20 June, as this will be our last opportunity to have any input into the future planning act that we will all be required to work within. Please RSVP by email here . The cost for breakfast is $22 per head and will be payable on the day, at Rydges.
