Prayer for Church Convention
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel at the 75th Diocesan Convention for the Diocese of Oklahoma for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |

There's A Big Fair Coming to St. Paul's on November 11th
Whole Creation Community is a diocesan-wide ministry that fosters responsible stewardship of Creation. The model, anchored at the Cathedral, encourages each church in the Diocese to develop its own ministry program, and the group at the Cathedral are presenting a major educational fair on Sunday, November 11th from 10:00 to 1:00. There will be 20 exhibitors from the metro area, ranging from ranging from Wildcare, Our Sisters' Closet and the Master Gardeners to OG&E, Oklahoma Clean Lakes and Watersheds Assn. and The Green Bambino baby store and many more who will be there to talk with you about living with a lighter footprint on this Planet Earth. St. Paul's especially invites our sister churches to drop in and get ideas that you might bring home to your own parishes. |

MIQRA
MIQRA MEETING: DECEMBER 15TH 12 NOON DIOCESAN OFFICES. If you want to be in on the planning for this event, come join us.
You have been seeing the word and some information but here's more! A Miqra (meek rah) is a public reading of Scripture.
Our Miqra is to be offered January 19 - 21, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Edmond. We actually begin on Friday (the 18th) morning, with the help of volunteers - college students, youth ministers, and other volunteers - and the reading begins.
A small group of youth who have been working on the planning will get together on Friday after school and do the prep work to ready for everyone. We will share a meal together and worship together. The reading continues.
The event officially begins on Saturday (the 19st) at noon. Everyone who comes will have an opportunity to sign up to read scripture, but it is not mandatory that you read. Reading slots are 1 hour in length and a maximum of three can sign up for a particular hour.
Periodically throughout the weekend, we will pause in our various program activities to listen to the reading. Participants are also given free time where they can choose to sit in the nave and listen to the reading. Reading continues around the clock from the time we start until finished. These readings are usually covered by parents and adult volunteers.
Now, while the reading is going on in the nave, we are offering all types of workshops for the participants. They will have "tribe time" in which they will engage in discussions or activities. We will have games, movies, crafts, and of course, food.
We will end on Monday morning at 9:30 with a closing worship service. We will read the final chapter of Revelation together as a group at our closing worship.
So what are we asking of you? Hopefully, you will want to attend and participate. Maybe you play a musical instrument and would like to be a part of that offering. Talk it up with the youth in your congregation. Get them excited about this 1st Miqra. Get people registered!
Adults - we need lots of help for this. You don't have to be involved in Youth Ministry to participate. Volunteer to be a tribe leader, reader, provide snacks, or even lead a workshop!
This promises to be one of the best events we have ever offered! |

Advent is Right Around the Corner
Here are some simple ideas your might look at:
1. St. Nicholas Center http://tinyurl.com/75qso6g has resources, activities, and how to celebrate.
2. Make a tri-fold Creche - recycle old Christmas cards by finding a picture of Mary, Joseph, the baby, and either an angel or star. Laminate or cover each piece with clear Contact paper and trim. Fold an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of construction into three equal panels - lengthwise (so the 11" is up). Glue the Christ Child to the middle piece, about 1" or so from the bottom. Glue Mary to one of the outer panels, Joseph to the other outer panel, and the baby in the center. Glue the star or angel in the center panel above the Christ Child.
3. Want to make a set of Nativity Ornaments? Go to PaideaClassics.org and on the left side of their home page, you will find the kit. The kit includes 7 shrink-plastic ornaments and after coloring with permanent markers, bake the oven. (This site also has St. Nicholas gold coins!) |
